How this is calculated

oz = g ÷ 28.349523125 (exact)

The metric-recipe-in-a-US-kitchen direction: 250 g of flour is 8.82 oz, a 100 g chocolate bar is 3.53 oz, 30 g of protein is 1.06 oz. Divide by 28.3495 and the answer is exact; the chart covers the package sizes you actually meet.

Same exact definition as the reverse page (the ounce is 28.349523125 g by definition), applied as a division. For cooking, weighing in grams and converting only for display is the accuracy-preserving order.

Frequently asked questions

How many oz is 100 g?

3.53 oz. Nutrition panels love 100 g servings, which is why so many US labels carry the awkward 3.5 oz alongside.

What is 500 g in ounces and pounds?

17.64 oz, which is 1 lb 1.6 oz. Anything over 16 oz reads more naturally as pounds-and-ounces — divide by 16 for the split.

Why do my scales show 28 g for 1 oz?

Display rounding: the true value is 28.3495 g. Cheap scales rounding to whole grams lose a third of a gram per ounce — irrelevant for pasta, real for espresso.

Grams to fluid ounces — can I?

Only via density. For water, 100 g ≈ 3.38 fl oz (100 ml); for oil, honey, or flour the same grams occupy different volumes. Use the ML pages for liquids measured by volume.
